Series forms part of Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in Halifax County fonds and consists of a register that provides warrants of attorney for Supreme and County Courts. Register also provides case title, writ number, amount, date filed, and judgment date. Register includes an alphabetical index by plaintiff. Series is arranged chronologically.

Part of Office of Economic Development fonds

Series forms part of Office of Economic Development fonds and consists of copies of Waterfront Development Corporation (WDC) board documents, project proposals, and other materials sent to the minister. Series also includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other materials added by the minister's office. Series is arranged chronologically. The WDC was formed in 1976 as part of a subsidiary agreement arranged by the Nova Scotia Department of Regional Economic Expansion between the federal and provincial governments. The WDC succeeded an earlier Intergovernmental Waterfront Committee and was a provincial crown corporation with the objective of redeveloping and revitalizing the Halifax, N.S. and Dartmouth, N.S. waterfronts. Although not a board member, the minister appears to have played an active role in its proceedings.

Series forms part of Department of Public Works and Mines fonds and consists of plans and profiles of water and sewer systems for some towns in Nova Scotia and for the Mount Hope Lunatic Asylum (now the Nova Scotia Hospital). Series also includes plans of towns and property where waterworks were being installed. Some plans have notes and correspondence attached. Series arranged alphabetically by county and town.

Women Unlimited

Series forms part of the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women fonds and contains records of Women Unlimited, a program to promote the full participation of women in trades and technology. The program works with industry, governments, educational institutions and communities to address systemic barriers that limit the participation of diverse women in these fields. NSACSW formed part of the initial working committee to establish the program, along with Women's Economic Equality (WEE) Society, the Hypatia Association, Service Canada, Nova Scotia Community Colleges, Department of Education, Department of Community Services and the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Board.

Series includes correspondence, minutes, discussion papers, reports, and outreach material documenting the Advisory Council’s participation in the initial working committee and pilot project, and in the continuing Women Unlimited Program.

Consists of 67 sounds cassettes representing interviews made by Mike Parker with 53 informants about their experience in Nova Scotia's logging industry as research for his book Woodchips & Beans.... The majority of those interviewed are male and come from many parts of Nova Scotia. Interviewees discuss life in the lumber camps (and the early 20th century in general) as well as milling practices, wages, working conditions and transportation.

Written questions differ from House orders in that the government is not obliged to respond. Not all years are extant. Records for 1922, 1927-1930, 1933-1946, 1949, 1961, and 1968 consist only of entry books listing the questions. Written questions again became part of the official House record in 1976, since when the clerk has maintained a register of written questions and answers, House orders and resolutions.

Series forms part of the Nova Scotia Registry of Deeds fonds and consists of 153 land transaction registers, 1774-1949, recording the sale or transfer of land between grantor (seller) and grantee (buyer), mortgage assignments and releases, (including Canadian Farm Loan Board mortgages, 1937-1949 and Supplementary Agreements, 1966), quit claim deeds, and numerous other types of documents relating to land transactions. The documents recorded in the land transaction registers are transcriptions (the Registry's copy) of the original documents held by grantor and grantee.

Series also includes four Books of Indexes, 1834-1859, which provide the registration date and time, the book and page reference to the land transactions register, and the names of the parties. These index books were replaced by a newer index system. Series also includes Crown Land Grant books 1 and 2, 1854-1969, which provided a local copy of land grants also recorded at the Crown Lands Office.

Series consists of transcripts of selected court proceedings retained by the Court Administration office in Yarmouth. Originally the files were probably created to manage the transcription process and often reflect situations were appeals were considered or proceedings adjourned. The files reflect a diversity of cases, mostly criminal, from various levels of courts for cases heard at Bridgewater, Liverpool and Yarmouth. They do not reflect every case heard in these courts.
