Consists of records created and accumulated by Richardson relating to her literary career and personal activities, including correspondence with family, publishers and readers of her books; drafts of her books and short stories; notebooks; research notes on natural history; biographical material; newspaper clippings; speeches; scripts of interviews; guest books; diaries, ephemera, and photographs. Some of the material relates to her interest in bird watching and includes field books, bird study reports, draft article for Mainland Bird Watching Society Newsletter; and correspondence to the editor of the Shelburne Coastguard concerning the disregard of laws involving game and protected birds. Also includes some letters and sympathy cards written to Richardson's daughter Elizabeth Smith after Richardson's death.
