Series forms part of Nova Scotia County Courts fonds and consists of case files for causes heard in Halifax, N.S. Case files contain summonses, subpoenas, affidavits, depositions, briefs, exhibits (documentary evidence), pleadings, informations, indictments, motions for appeal, orders, decisions, verdicts, and transcripts of testimony. The volume and type of records varies in each file. Series is arranged chronologically by court case number.
Name indexes were created by the Courts for case files dated 1877 to 1929 in Case File Registers. The names of both plaintiffs and defendants are recorded in lists for each year under the first letter of their surname with the corresponding case number.
