Series forms part of Nova Scotia County Courts fonds and consists of cause, (or docket) books which record the commencement of causes by the assignment of case file number and the recording of other information such as the names of plaintiff and defendant, their solicitors, and the nature of the actions. The books also record the subsequent filing of documents related to the case by the parties involved or the court itself. There is an additional volume which appears to be the index for the next Cause book volume which has yet to be received by the Nova Scotia Archives. Although not indexed exactly in alphabetical order each volume contains a chronological listing under the first letter of the last names of the parties to the case
