History
James Sadler was born on 10 March 1876 Middlebrough, Yorkshire, England, the son of John and Bridget (Wilson) Sadler. In December of 1907 he married Janet Anderson, daughter of David and Ann (Slimin) Anderson. He served six years in the 3rd Yorkshire Regiment before immigrating to Canada on 31 August 1912. After coming to Nova Scotia he served as a fireman in Dartmouth. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in August 1915 and served with the 87th Quebec Regiment. He was killed at the Battle of Vimy Ridge on 9 April 1917.
