The photographs predominantly show completed sections of Trunk highways, but there are also photographs showing the reconstruction process, laying drainage pipes, grading and paving, and photographs showing machinery, equipment, paving plants, pavement, and unidentified men working. Photographs also show automobiles, streetscapes, landscapes, residences, farms, businesses, bridges and other landmarks.
Albums are inscribed with the name of the R.W. McColough who was Chief Engineer (1924-1939) for the Department of Highways, then Deputy Minister (1939-1943) of Department of Highways and Public Works.
