Biographical history
Martha Henderson Campbell (ca. 1834-1865) was the eldest daughter of James Campbell, MLA (1801-1855) and Elizabeth (Baxter). She married Rev. Robert Liard of Princetown, P.E.I on 20 November 1862 in Tatamagouche, N.S., and they had two children: Bessie Poole Liard (1864-1925) and Alexander Liard (1865-1917). Alexander married Clara C. Hobrecker. Their daughter, Hilda Charlotta Campbell Liard (ca. 1895-1986) was a faculty member of Queens University, Kingston, Ont. and retired as head of the German department.

Scope and content
Consists of records documenting activities of the Liard family and related Campbell and Hobrecker families. Includes a personal journal kept by Martha Campbell between 8 May 1853 and 23 November 1854, letters from Martha to various family members in 1864, letters to Hilda Campbell Liard, copies of Liard family documents, family history of the Campbells, and genealogical notes and copy of an article pertaining to the Hobreckers. Also included are photographs of members of the Campbell, Liard, and Hobrecker families and Hobrecker house, which became "Lindola", the Oland mansion, 138 Young Avenue, taken by Robert Schurman.
