Fonds consists of correspondence, scrapbooks, and other records documenting Meagher's career as an athlete and artist and her personal activities and interests. Correspondence includes letters from friends, including artist Olga Douglas, Father Joseph Murray Abraham and friends at the St. Alphonsus mission school in India, and a few letters written by Meagher to other artists. Other records include postcards, poems, art exhibit notices and catalogues, newspaper clippings and other published material, diary, and ephemera. Fonds also contains photographs and postcards used in the production of Meagher's artwork, and her working drawings, drawings, and sketchbooks featuring Nova Scotian coastal villages, fishing scenes, ships, town and country landscapes, Halifax, trees, flora, and scenes of Europe, particularly Ireland and Irish crosses. There are also a small number of photographs of Meagher, friends in Halifax and India, and the St. Alphonsus Mission School.

Fonds consists of five diaries kept by the Pearls in their capacity as lighthouse keepers for the Department of Marine, Canada - Lighthouse Service. The contents of the fonds record times when the lights were lit, extinguished and the total time in operation for the lighthouse on Green Island (subsequently Pearl Island), Nova Scotia, at the mouth of St. Margarets Bay. The diaries also include observations about the weather and winds.

Fonds consists of photographs (negatives, contact prints, selected enlargements, and slides) created and accumulated in the course of the Stirling County Study directed by Leighton. The fonds consists primarily of prints and negatives taken by chief photographer John Collier Jr. which depict Digby County, Nova Scotia, including the communities of Digby, Bear River, Cape St. Marys, Freeport, Westport, Weymouth, and numerous others. Includes images of traditional industries (agriculture, fishing, logging, and family businesses), family, social, and religious events, schools, churches, housing, residents, and general views and landscapes. Other photographs include aerial views of the study site taken by the Royal Canadian Air Force; scenes of Digby County from various sources; the Navajo community at Fruitland, New Mexico, USA, relating to a parallel study at Cornell University; and a small number of photographs accumulated by Leighton during his travels to Europe and Africa. Fonds also includes 16mm film reels containing mostly raw footage and work prints relating to the study in Digby and parallel studies in Nigeria and New York, as well as two documentary films shot by Leighton; one film entitled "Porpoise Oil" was produced in collaboration with the Mi'kmaq of the Bear River Reserve in 1936 and features a re-enactment of traditional hunting methods.

Fonds consists of photographs (negatives, prints, contact sheets, slides and transparencies) created by Brooks in the course of his photojournalism assignments. Fonds also contains related correspondence, scrapbooks, and publications which feature his photographs and stories. A significant portion of his work focuses on the Atlantic Provinces, particularly Nova Scotia, with emphasis on industries, historic communities and events, prominent people, and human interest stories involving the Nova Scotia Home for Coloured Children and Africville. Also contains scrapbooks compiled by Brooks' mother, available on microfilm.

Fonds consists of correspondence (1906-1955), mine leases (1903-1919), sales agreements (1908-1948), gold return memos from U.S. and Royal Canadian Mints (1903-1912, 1938-1940), monthly summaries of mine operations (1938-1942) and expense statements (1938-1941), geologists’ reports (1927, 1935-1938), prospectus reports (1903, 1928, 1935-1940), stock certificates (or shares 1903, 1935), plans of mine workings and lease holders (1891-1940), mineral maps of Nova Scotia (ca1901, 1912, 1935), and some photographs of mining machinery and above-ground buildings (1930s). The files are arranged by company name in roughly chronological order by the archivist.

Correspondence is addressed mostly to Arthur Brennan, and includes his correspondence with company representatives (1924-1949); the Department of Public Works and Mines (1921-1949); with mine managers Frank Reeves (1921-1945), N.O. Lawton (1939-1940), and R.W. Sweet (1940-1941); with his brother C. Victor Brennan, a mining engineer in British Columbia (1922-1948); with his lawyers (1922-1949); and with other prospective buyers (1921-1924, 1929-1934). Fonds also includes early correspondence of W.A. Brennan (1906-1915) and one file of correspondence to Arthur Brennan’s son Bill Brennan regarding closing the mine (1943-1955).

Fonds consists of photographs of Guysborough and vicinity and Buckley family and friends, predominantly by William Buckley and his children, Mary, Edith and Walter. Their photographs of Guysborough and vicinity, taken for both personal and commercial purposes, document the growth and development of Guysborough over fifty years. They depict commercial and residential buildings, streets, harbour, general views, shipping, school activities, community events, fires, outdoor hockey and curling, yachting regattas at Guysborough and Canso, building and bridge construction, farms and livestock, mills, Guysborough Railway survey, 193rd Regiment leaving Guysborough, 1916 and visit of Governor-General Byng, 1923. Also includes negatives left by others for printing, such as school field day, 1932, by Mrs. Erdine Harris and Larry's River and Charlos Cove by Rev. A.H. Cormier. Buckley family photographs included informal portraits of them and their friends and reflect their interests, particularly boating, building working model boats, gardening, and other outdoor activities such as sledding and skating.

Fonds consists of tracings and original drawings of property surveys and plot plans for the town of Windsor NS and nearby communities showing gypsum quarries, rail lines and landowners’ plots (1853-1938 and undated); original topographical survey drawings of the Avon and St. Croix Rivers showing low and high tide marks for Windsor-Hantsport-Summerville area (1940-1944); and blueprints and copies on linen of technical plans for barge ships including the DANIEL M. MUNRO, and the MUMFORD, as well as technical plans for a ship’s marine engine from Johnson Iron Co. Ltd. of Yarmouth (1919-1942). Companies represented include Wentworth Gypsum Co., Newport Plaster Mining and Manufacturing Co., the Canadian Gypsum Co., and its parent the United States Gypsum Co.

Fonds also includes a 1922 map of the world showing trade routes between Canadian and Foreign ports published by the Canadian Department of the Interior (1922); black & white photographic copies of geology maps of Avondale, Hantsport, Miller Creek, St. Croix, Upper Falmouth, and Windsor (1948); and undated topographical maps of Windsor area quarries.

The material documents the mining management activities of Canadian Gypsum Company and its parent United States Gypsum Co. as they created topographical survey plans of their quarries and other assets for mining gypsum rock; studied water levels and ships’ drafts to calculate their loading capacities; and built or retrofitted ships to transport the rock to the United States and elsewhere.

Fonds consists of official records of the society, including executive minutes, committee minutes, constitution and bylaws, financial papers, presidential files, correspondence, and proposals for membership. Also includes programs, addresses and menus for Society events; publications and engravings, and a brief history of the Society compiled in digital format in 2009.

Fonds consists of records documenting the business activities and positions held by the Chipman family in Kings County, N.S., including Ross Chipman, his father, William Henry Chipman, and his great-grandfather, William Allen Chipman. Fonds contains correspondence, deeds, mortgages, and other material relating to Chipman family estates and associated families, 1760-1877; journals, accounts, receipts, and legal records, pertaining to family businesses in Kings County and Halifax, 1847-1899, including Chipman & Co. and W.H. Chipman and Son; assessment rolls, minutes, petitions, and other material relating to the Court of General Sessions and the Inferior Court of Common Pleas, 1761-1865; accounts, labour books, minutes, and other material concerning the construction of dykes, 1760-1834; and records of attendance, lists of supplies and promotions, and company rolls regarding the 68th Kings County Regiment, Reserve Militia of Canada, 1864-1869.

Fonds consists of documenting Clara Dennis' career as a reporter and author. Includes notebooks relating to her research of the Mi'kmaq, mainland Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and other subjects, 1923-1940s; business and personal correspondence, 1905-1942; newspaper clippings pertaining to Halifax and Dalhousie College and medical school, 1924-1947; research notes; addresses; published and unpublished articles; and booklets. Also includes photographs taken on her travels through Nova Scotia, as well as Sable Island, New Brunswick, and the Gaspe Peninsula between 1930 and 1940.

Fonds consists of 146 scrapbook albums (ca1919-1974) assembled by David E. Lewis, containing his personal and business correspondence; clippings of articles written by or about him; book reviews; personal, family and work-related photographs; legal documents such as teaching contracts; and memorabilia including plane tickets and pay stubs from stories sold. These are interspersed among clippings of newspaper and magazine articles, printed jokes, comic nude cartoons, and images of entertainers, selected for their relevance to Lewis’ life experiences and/or emotional state at the time.

Arrangement is roughly chronological, with some albums covering 1 month in a year and others cover a range from the 1940s to 1970s.

Fonds also includes a diary of his trip to McClelland and Stewart publishers in Toronto (1972), a sketchbook of portraits (1948?), a cash book of personal and bookstore expenses in Montreal (1956-1961), a file of teaching aids for high school English Literature (1950s?), and his university degrees (1940, 1951).

Fonds also includes a notebook of proverbs and lists of books read and movies seen (with annotations) belonging to David E. Lewis’ mother Isabelle Jean (Laing) Lewis (1939-1947) and a typescript of a thesis about David E. Lewis written by Andrea Robbins (2000).

Fonds consists of textual records, sound recordings and photographs, created and accumulated by Messer during the course of his career from the 1920s until his death. In addition to documenting Messer's career, the fonds also contains a major music library documenting the musical tradition of rural North America, as Messer actively acquired musical scores and recordings from musicians, composers and folklorists throughout North America and Europe. Also includes one film.

Fonds consists of records documenting business and personal activities of four generations of the Easson family. Fonds contains correspondence, invoices, receipts, account statements, promissory notes, land conveyances, bills of exchange, licences, survey plans, and other material relating to commercial transactions between Annapolis Royal, New England, Halifax, and Louisbourg; shipping in the 1700s including an incident involving a vessel at Tatamagouche; relations between the French and the Mi'kmaq; mill-work; maintenance of aboiteaux and dykes; local government; and social life and customs of Annapolis Royal. Family members represented include John Easson (1715-1790); son David (1748-1790) and his wife Elizabeth (ca.1750-1841); three of their eight children: David (1773-1812) and David's wife Zeruiah (ca.1790-1845), Thomas (1784-ca.1862), and Alexander (1786-1862); and three of Alexander's children: Deborah (1816-1888), Caroline (1822-1885), and David Stuart Easson (1823-1883). Also includes records of Thomas Prior, a freed slave, who was a neighbour of David Easson (1773-1812).

Fonds consists of negatives taken by Bollinger for his clients while operating The Camera Shop and later Camera Shop of the Maritimes. Subjects include exterior and interior views of businesses in Halifax such as Imperial Oil and Royal Bank and its employees, Victoria General Hospital staff and facilities, societies, churches, hotels, storefronts, Halifax shipyards, naval personnel and events, CHNS radio station events, and wartime housing. Also contains scenes of rural Nova Scotia including the South Shore, Annapolis Valley, and Cape Breton. There are also a small number of personal photographs of Bollinger's family including son Wynn, friends, and social events. The fonds also contains film footage taken by Bollinger while visiting Nova Scotia in the summer of 1934. Images include Halifax Public Gardens and a trip to Isle Haute, Peggy's Cove, "Evangeline" area, re-enactment of Champlain's landing at Port Royal, and the Nova Scotia Guides Meets held at Lake William.
