Correspondents include the British Secretary of State for the Colonies, the Secretary of State of Canada and the Nova Scotia Provincial Secretary. Also includes correspondence of the 1958 committee on the bicentenary of representative government in Nova Scotia. Many of the letters are official dispatches with replies.
Subseries forms part of Shelburne County circuit records series and consists of a register providing attorney's name, names of plaintiff and defendant, abstract of proceedings, and court fees charged. For later cases, proceedings and fees charged are not provided and cases are assigned an alphanumeric identification code. Cases are listed as civil (jury or non-jury) or criminal.
Consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, petitions, deeds, and minutes accumulated by Captain William Ross regarding the Ross family and the development of the Sherbrooke military settlement, later called New Ross, 1816-1822. Also contains correspondence and other material relating to property in New Ross and the 75th Battilion Infantry, 1846-1920, and correspondence and diary of Edward Ross relating to business and social activities in New Ross, Halifax, and Lunenburg County, 1835-1891.
