Among the subjects covered are: Fundy tidal power, nuclear power, electricity and electrical systems, engineering profession, genealogy, philosophy, and science. Fonds consists of records documenting Betty Peterson's personal relationships, volunteer activities and interests in peace and social justice issues in Nova Scotia and internationally. The records are organized into four groups, the first consisting of files documenting her activities from 1980-1993, the second her activities from 1994-2004, and the third her activities from 2004-2013, with some overlapping of dates. The fourth group consists of Peterson’s personal correspondence and biographical files 1951-2011. Records in the first 3 groups are arranged by subject, by either the name of an organization (e.g. Voice of Women for Peace), or a cause (e.g. aboriginal rights). The personal correspondence files are arranged by year or by correspondent. Starting in 1977 these files also include annual calendars with brief notes on activities. Fonds includes a large amount of published research and resource material on a given issue (e.g. newspaper clippings, periodicals, and newsletters), but also contains Peterson's notes, memoirs and diaries with comments and recollections, as well as correspondence (incoming and outgoing), memoranda, speeches and articles, minutes of meetings, briefs, reports, published articles about her, transcripts of interviews she gave, and photographs.

Fonds consists of minutes of the East and West Branch East River Bible Society which cooperated as a branch of Auxiliary Bible Society at Pictou. In later years, the minutes are for the Bible and Evangelical Society, which was also recorded as the Evangelical and Bible Society, or simply as the Bible Society. The minute-book begins with the arrival of Rev. J. Thomson, agent of the British and Foreign Bible Society.

Fonds consists of records primarily documenting Lynch's business activities as a carnival operator in Nova Scotia and other Atlantic provinces. Fonds contains incoming and outgoing correspondence both for the Bill Lynch Shows and Harold Curran, family papers, carnival ephemera, administrative, financial and operational records, photographs including items hand-coloured by J.F. LeBlanc, and a watercolour, as well as technical drawings of amusement rides and a map. The records also document personalities such as Charles Atlas and Elly Aredelty (Trapeze Artist) and the types of equipment used for rides and amusements.

Consists of operational records created or accumulated by the Black United Front. Includes records of the Provincial Council, 1970-1995, Board of Directors, 1969-1979, and Executive Director's Office, 1970-1996. The Provincial Council was the supreme authority of BUF and was the forum through which elected community representatives met and formulated policy and strategies. It had its own slate of officers, by-laws and committees. Its records consist of minutes of high-level meetings, correspondence (chiefly of the president), policy and procedural manuals, constitutions and by-laws, memoranda of association and incorporation documents. The Board of Directors was the policy refining branch, accountable to the Provincial Council. It consisted of councillors and the executive director. It ceased to exist in 1981. Its records consist of meeting minutes files, which also include supporting documentation such as correspondence, notes, reports, and submissions. The executive director, who was hired in 1970, carried out the policies, procedures and programs of the Provincial Council and managed staff. Other duties included preparation of submissions and reports on areas of research. Includes correspondence (arranged chronologically), annual and quarterly progress reports to the council, commissioned surveys, studies and reports and case files. The latter include on-going projects, investigations, fund-raising ideas, exchanges of information, policy and strategy with other organizations, and contacts with government departments and individuals, and are arranged alphabetically. There are also audited financial statements, correspondence and progress reports of outreach and field staff, community workers and the human services workers, and several in-house publications such as newsletters, newspapers and promotional brochures. Also includes a set of u-matic videocassettes containing episodes of BUF's "Black Horizon" cable tv show, which ran from 1976-1983.

Fonds consists of correspondence and other records created and accumulated by four generations of the Bliss family, most of which relate to Henry Bliss. Includes letters written to Henry by his brothers Lewis and William Blowers beginning at King's College, Windsor, and continuing almost until their deaths. Letters discuss personal and family news, leisure and business activities, and local and international events. Also includes letters written to Henry from other family members, friends, and business acquaintances, and letters to his business associates including Jack Brown and Robert Gordon. Also contains correspondence received by Lewis and William Blowers Bliss, mostly from Henry Bliss, assorted correspondence between Bliss family members, journals, diaries, legal and financial records, literary manuscripts, certificates, notes and charts on Bliss family geneaology, newspaper clippings, broadsheets and other ephemera. A significant portion of his work focuses on the Atlantic Provinces, particularly Nova Scotia, with emphasis on industries, historic communities and events, prominent people, and human interest stories involving the Nova Scotia Home for Coloured Children and Africville. Also contains scrapbooks compiled by Brooks' mother, available on microfilm.

The contents of the fonds include documents referring to the following Nova Scotian businesses: MacLeod Paper and Power Company Ltd., Rossignol Lands Ltd., Mersey Paper Company Ltd., Annapolis Lumber Company Ltd., A.D. Mills & Sons Ltd., Lunenburg Wood Products Ltd., and Minas Basin Pulp and Power Corp. Ltd. The contents provide stumpage and 'cruising' details, timber estimate sheets, volume of wood cut, maps and inventories. There are also unattributed original and copy photographs collected by Alexander, which document the Town of Hantsport and environs, as well as photographs he took himself.

Also includes files relating to Voices Down East, a literary publication of The 4th Estate established in 1972, which featured Maritime writers. Photographs which appeared in The 4th Estate are also found among the textual records. Also contains two VHS videocassettes entitled '4th Estate' (1977) and 'South Africa' (1986).

Fonds consists of correspondence (1906-1955), mine leases (1903-1919), sales agreements (1908-1948), gold return memos from U.S. and Royal Canadian Mints (1903-1912, 1938-1940), monthly summaries of mine operations (1938-1942) and expense statements (1938-1941), geologists’ reports (1927, 1935-1938), prospectus reports (1903, 1928, 1935-1940), stock certificates (or shares 1903, 1935), plans of mine workings and lease holders (1891-1940), mineral maps of Nova Scotia (ca1901, 1912, 1935), and some photographs of mining machinery and above-ground buildings (1930s). The files are arranged by company name in roughly chronological order by the archivist.

Correspondence is addressed mostly to Arthur Brennan, and includes his correspondence with company representatives (1924-1949); the Department of Public Works and Mines (1921-1949); with mine managers Frank Reeves (1921-1945), N.O. Lawton (1939-1940), and R.W. Sweet (1940-1941); with his brother C. Victor Brennan, a mining engineer in British Columbia (1922-1948); with his lawyers (1922-1949); and with other prospective buyers (1921-1924, 1929-1934). Fonds also includes early correspondence of W.A. Brennan (1906-1915) and one file of correspondence to Arthur Brennan’s son Bill Brennan regarding closing the mine (1943-1955).

Fonds consists of materials generated and accumulated by Brian Cuthbertson during his research work, including correspondence, notes, reports, and copies of documents relating to Bishop Charles Inglis and his contemporaries. Also contains family papers (history and genealogy) relating to the Uniacke, Fawson and Odevaine families. Also included are files from contract work including the Nova Scotia-Newfoundland boundary dispute, the Crown Share Adjustment Panel, and the Campaign for Fairness relating to Canada-Nova Scotia 1986 Accord and Legislation. There are also research reports on the Home for Coloured Children and many reports prepared for Canada Post including: the Canso Causeway; the Silver Dart; William Hall, VC; Carrie Best, OC; the 100th anniversary of the first trans-Atlantic radio transmission by Guglielmo Marconi; Samuel Cunard and the delivery of trans-Atlantic mail; the Battle of the Plains of Abraham; William James Roue; Tall Ships 2000; and the Cabot Trail, among others. Fonds consists of correspondence, certificates, essays, papers, speeches, photographs, research and subject files, newspaper clippings, manuscripts of published books and articles, reports and other documentation from universities and associations with which Dr. Pachai was involved. The research files and photographs were used in his books, for consulting work and for speaking engagements as Executive Director of the NS Human Rights Commission and the Black Cultural Centre. Subjects include racism in schools and the workplace, multiculturalism, human rights, the history of African Nova Scotian individuals and institutions, and biographies of prominent members of the Black community up to 2005. Also includes articles on history of Malawi, an unpublished biography of Dr. William P. Oliver, and special event programs and newsletters from the Black Cultural Centre. The contents of the fonds document his academic career, private life, research interests and varied social and community involvements.

Consists of photographs of Guysborough and vicinity and Buckley family and friends, predominantly by William Buckley and his children, Mary, Edith and Walter. Their photographs of Guysborough and vicinity, taken for both personal and commercial purposes, document the growth and development of Guysborough over fifty years. They depict commercial and residential buildings, streets, harbour, general views, shipping, school activities, community events, fires, outdoor hockey and curling, yachting regattas at Guysborough and Canso, building and bridge construction, farms and livestock, mills, Guysborough Railway survey, 193rd Regiment leaving Guysborough, 1916 and visit of Governor-General Byng, 1923. Also includes negatives left by others for printing, such as school field day, 1932, by Mrs. Erdine Harris and Larry's River and Charlos Cove by Rev. A.H. Cormier. Buckley family photographs included informal portraits of them and their friends and reflect their interests, particularly boating, building working model boats, gardening, and other outdoor activities such as sledding and skating.
