Also included are photographs depicting patients and staff of the occupational therapy departments at Camp Hill Hospital and Royal Canadian Naval Hospital in Halifax, the society's 25th anniversary dinner, group photographs of members, an audio cassette and videocassette containing interviews with the Mary Black Award recipients of 1987, and a videocassette entitled Mary Black: A Pioneer in Occupational Therapy. Also contains material relating to the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy.

Consists of business records, minutes of directors meetings, statutes and scrapbooks documenting the Nova Scotia Savings and Loan Company’s banking and investment business, the rules it operated under, its communications to shareholders, news coverage it received, public relations activities and social aspects of the banking industry over its 137 year history in Nova Scotia and Canada.

It is arranged by the archivist into nine groupings: annual financial statements and reports (1851-1923, 1941, 1949), minutes of directors and shareholders meetings (1849-1949, missing 1894-1897), registers of shares and shareholders (1850-1964), daily cash books (1850-1921), scrapbooks of clippings and original documents (1918-1987, missing 1940-1949), selected correspondence with customers and lawyers (1860, 1875, 1880-1930, 1939), statutes and by-laws (1854-1950), banking business ephemera (early 20th century) and photographs (189?-1987).

Consists of original land transaction registers containing transcribed deeds, mortgages and other documents pertaining to land transactions as they were deposited by land grantees (buyers) and grantors (sellers) for most counties in Nova Scotia. Also includes other documents affecting title to land which were sometimes kept in separate books such as judgment books, will books and mortgage registers. Other documents which may be recorded in the registers include: quit claim deeds, wills, mechanics liens, power of attorney, right of ways, bills of sale, and assignments. Subsequent to 1851, the includes land grant records, mainly in microfilm format as these were required to be deposited with the Registry of Deeds offices under the Crown Lands Act (R.S., C.114, s.1).

Fonds consists of materials generated and accumulated by Brian Cuthbertson during his research work, including correspondence, notes, reports, and copies of documents relating to Bishop Charles Inglis and his contemporaries. Also contains family papers (history and genealogy) relating to the Uniacke, Fawson and Odevaine families. Also included are files from contract work including the Nova Scotia-Newfoundland boundary dispute, the Crown Share Adjustment Panel, and the Campaign for Fairness relating to Canada-Nova Scotia 1986 Accord and Legislation. There are also research reports on the Home for Coloured Children and many reports prepared for Canada Post including: the Canso Causeway; the Silver Dart; William Hall, VC; Carrie Best, OC; the 100th anniversary of the first trans-Atlantic radio transmission by Guglielmo Marconi; Samuel Cunard and the delivery of trans-Atlantic mail; the Battle of the Plains of Abraham; William James Roue; Tall Ships 2000; and the Cabot Trail, among others. There are also files relating to his publications including: Johnny Bluenose at the polls: epic Nova Scotia election battles, 1758-1848; Lunenburg: then and now; Wolfville and Grand Pre: past and present; and Melville Prison and Deadman's Island: American and French Prisoners of War in Halifax, 1794-1816.

Consists of records documenting the activities of the provincial and local branch offices of the Red Cross in Nova Scotia. Includes annual reports, minute books, notebooks, newsletters, policies, newspaper clippings, secretary and treasurer's books, financial records, correspondence, agreements, committee reports, membership lists, historical notes, photographs, albums, and slides. Images include relief operations during the First and Second World Wars, Halifax Harbour Explosion of 1917, fire at Parrsboro in 1969, the Springhill mine disaster, blood donor clinics, provincial branch presidents, staff, volunteers, social and fundraising events, and the journey of Swedish immigrants to Halifax on the Walnut in 1949. Red Cross branches represented in the fonds include Halifax, Musquodoboit Valley, Rockingham, Fairview, Annapolis Royal, Springhill, and Sydney. Also includes a film produced by the American Red Cross, and articles and printed material relating to the Canadian and International Red Cross, and Junior Red Cross.

Consists of letters between McCulloch and his friends and colleagues, Rev. James Mitchell and Jotham Blanchard, discussing the affairs of Pictou Academy, the Presbyterian Church in Nova Scotia, relations with the Church of Scotland, Lord Dalhousie, and personal and political news. Other correspondents include C.D. Archibald regarding Dalhousie College, George Smith, George Young, Rev. K.J. McKenzie, and Rev. Thomas Trotter. Also contains subscription lists, minutes of meetings, correspondence, petitions, and accounts concerning Pictou Academy; scientific notes and lectures given by McCulloch; speeches and sermons; theological and literary writings, including manuscripts of the letters of Mephibosheth Stepsure, "William", "Melville", "Auld Eppie's tales", and an unpublished novel; minutes of congregation meetings; and publications including newspapers and pamphlets accumulated by McCulloch and his family. Piercey family

Consists of business, personal and family records for the Piercey family and Piercey Supplies Ltd. related to W.D. Piercey and Reginald Piercey. The business records include the day planners for both WD Piercey (1935-42; 1945-1949) and Reginald Piercey (1934-1996) that span almost the entirety of their careers with Piercey Supplies Ltd. There are photographs of the hardware supply store and real estate holdings, including the development of the Glen Heath properties. Also includes newspaper clippings related to various Piercey family holdings as well as brochures and advertisements.

Also included are family records and the genealogy of the extended Piercey family. These include annotated scrapbooks and photo albums, along with many loose photos that have been mostly identified and dated. Reginald’s materials relate mostly to his time at Dalhousie and his athletic interests, while Lillian Piercey’s material mostly relates to the arts and music community in Halifax. Barbara and Shelia’s materials include their education achievements and involvement in musical performances in Halifax.

Consists of transcripts of all hearings conducted by the commission, copies of all written submissions forwarded to the commission, a copy of the report, and copies of the maps created for the report. The written submissions are arranged alphabetically by names of presenters, while the transcripts of hearings are arranged chronologically. As part of its consultative process, the commission held a special session with the Mi'kmaq community to consider the nature of native representation in the House of Assembly. This formed a major portion of the commission's report, as did the recommendation to create a seat in the Preston area that would concentrate voters in such a manner that the election of a Black member would become a possibility.

Douglas George Buckley

Consists of the letters that Douglas George Buckley sent home during the war, the majority of which were addressed to his mother and his sister Hilda (who is referred to as “Billy”) in Guysborough. There are also a few letters between Dr. Buckley and John Tory regarding Douglas’ injury during the war. Also includes photographs of Douglas and friends in Toronto, most of which have been identified and dated. Includes postcards from Douglas to his family, some newspaper clippings and some other textual documents related to Douglas’s return to Guysborough.

Printed and bound account book for tracking tolls collected at Pigot’s Farm Gate, Hants County, along the Windsor to Halifax Road. John Fielden recorded the month, day and names of people travelling through the toll gate, the number and kinds of livestock accompanying them and how much they paid. The book is only partially filled and arranged in chronological order. The first entry is dated August 13, 1782 and the last entry is October 20, 1782.
