Archival description
Fonds · 1962-2006

Fonds consists of the records of the Nova Scotia Voluntary Planning Board (VPB), with particular focus on the Board's many sector committees and other citizen engagement responsibilities. The volunteer-based sector committees represent industries and issues from across the province, from social and economic concerns to cultural and environmental issues.

Fonds traces the beginnings of the VPB and its sector committees in the 1960s, their growth and influence, several reconfigurations, and finally their dissolution in the 2000s. These records will be of interest to a wide variety of researchers, as they offer an in-depth look into government process and policy across many fields, from natural resources to community growth, from small business development to cultural events. Researchers will get a sense of government-citizen engagement and partnerships, and how these influenced decisions and policy.
