Consists of records documenting Whitelaw's activities as a writer and radio broadcaster. Contains personal and business correspondence, draft manuscripts, transcripts, interview notes, newspaper clippings, research notes, copies of newspaper and magazine articles, press releases, sound recordings, and other miscellaneous material relating to her various publications and CBC Radio projects. Subjects covered in the records include: Lord Dalhousie journals, Acadian women, Billy Joe McLean, Helen Joseph and South African politics, and Hugh MacDiarmid. Also includes material relating to the Nova Scotia Women's Oral History Project for which Whitelaw was recruited in 1990 to conduct interviews.
