English Program Services assesses program needs of both the public school and community college systems. It is responsible for the design and development of appropriate programs and courses, the evaluation of learning and teaching resources, and the provision of teacher in-service programs.

Subseries forms part of Program Branch series in the Department of Education fonds, and consists of correspondence and minutes from Private Trade School Board meetings.

Extension Services, as a division of the Program Branch, provides life-long learning through delivery of specialized programs and services. Some of these programs include: Adult and Continuing Education, Career Services, Correspondence Studies, Literacy, and Rehabilitation Training. This division is also responsible for administering the "Trade Schools Act."
